MTG Legendary Creature Evolution

Historical printing trends and set-by-set distribution analytics powered by DuckDB and Apache Superset.

This dashboard was created in September 2026 prior to the release of the Reality Fracture expansion set.

It was built to explore a simple question: "Driven by the rising popularity of the Commander format, how has the printing rate of Legendary Creatures evolved over time?"

What started as a single query turned into a broader exploration of MTG design shifts across decades of set releases. I hope you find the dataset insights as fascinating as I did!
